I had a lot of fun that night getting all dressed up in a new gown that mum had whipped up especially for the occasion. Didn't the boys scrub up well, very classy! I remember our group had pre-dinner drinks and nibbles at science teacher Alan Conders' home. I was very lucky to be attending that ball as I had just missed all my final exams and I was looking a whiter shade of pale as I was suffering from Glandular Fever with liver failure as an extra bonus.
